July 21, Commanding General US Army Europe Lt Gen Mark P. Hertling will be visitng Lithuania, Ministry of National Defence and the Joint Headquarters, and meet with acting Chief of Defence Commander Land Force Maj Gen Jonas Vytautas Žukas, representatives of leadership of LAF Joint Headquarters and MoND.
It is the first visit of Lt Gen M. Hertling in Lithuania as Commanding General US Army Europe. During the visit the high-ranking officer is planned to familiarise with the Lithuanian National Security and Defence Priorities, structure of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, tasks of Lithuanian troops in the multinational operations.
Commanding General US Army Europe is subordinate to the United States European Command (EUCOM). It is also the superior command for commanders of the US Air Forces in Europe, US Naval Forces Europe, US Marine Corps Europe and the US Special Operations Command Europe. EUCOM is led by Adm James Stavridis who is also Supreme Allied Commander Europe.
