On April 10-11 a detachment of the 8th Territorial Unit, Didžioji Kova Military District provided support to the Public Security Service safeguarding a strategic site during a Peacetime Tasks Training in the Elektrėnai Power Plant area at the Elektrėnai Complex alongside members of the Air Defence Battalion of the Lithuanian Air Force with a NASAMS National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System. The troops work hand in hand with other institutions to ensure a smooth and safe site security process.
NDVF training ensures readiness for Peacetime Tasks Support to public institutions in order to improve inter-institutional cooperation and effective coordination of response. The training exercise cover foot and mounted patrols, utilizes a link and wireless telecommunications module deployed to provide smooth information transfer and coordination across all training units.
Peacetime tasks is one of the routine missions of the National Defence Volunteer Force. Its responsibility is not just to stand ready to respond to threats to sovereignty of the state with the other services but also to provide aid to civilians in emergencies. Armed services can be called to assist civilian institutions in case of emergency according to legislation of the Republic of Lithuania.
