April 22 - May 13 a platoon of the 5th Territorial Unit of Vytis Military District of the National Defence Volunteer Force are taking part in Exercise Combined Resolve X in Germany.
Soldiers are practicing actions in the enemy's rear alongside NATO allies' special forces troops. During the preparation phase of the exercise the soldiers will brush up their skills of operating in a unit, learn mobility, maneuver, and HMMWV-mounted tasks. The active phase will allow them practise NDVF tasks, ambush, raid, area and object reconnaissance, and interoperability with allied units, operating together with allies.
The Lithuanian platoon is entrusted with a large area of responsibility, so soldiers will be operating separately in squads and take independent decisions on the basis of the shifts in operational environment.
The exercise uses MILES for casualty assessment making the battle more realistic. The hostile force will be played an advanced, mechanised unit equipped with night, thermal vision and reconnaissance drones, which will require troops to be inventive to complete the tasks entrusted with by their allies.
