Preparations for Baltic Host 2012 underway

On November 15 and 16 Concept Development Conference for the multinational host nation support (HNS) exercise Baltic Host 2013 is held at the General Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre (Nemenčinė).

Baltic Host 2013 is due to take place in all the three Baltic States - Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia - simultaneously in November 2013. The exercise will aim at enhancing interoperability of military and civilian institutions of the Baltic and other NATO member states as well as readiness of the Baltic States to host allied forces of a designated size. The exercise will also facilitate identification of directions for developing Baltic infrastructure and institutions to the end of strengthening regional security and defence capacity.

The traditional Baltic HNS exercise Baltic Host 2013 next year will be conducted jointly with the NATO Response Force certification exercise Steadfast Jazz 2013 held according to a NATO Article-based (collective defence) scenario.

At the Concept Development Conference Baltic and NATO's representatives in charge of the exercise planning will discuss the preparatory work done so far and will set the guidelines for further cooperation among civilian and military institutions of the Baltic States and other NATO's structural elements.

Host Nation Support is civilian and military assistance rendered by a host nation to allied forces and agencies deploying or acting in the host nation's territory or transiting that territory in peacetime, in case of emergency situations, crises or conflicts.
