Recruitment specialists from the USA share professional experience with colleagues from Lithuania

 

Are you interested in the matters of your country's national armed forces? How much are you aware of the profession of the military? Would you like to study military sciences? Military from the US and Lithuanian Armed Forces talked to young passers-by on such and similar questions in the centre of Vilnius for several hours.


On May 21 through 27 recruitment specialist of the Pennsylvania National Guard are visiting Lithuania by invitation of the Lithuanian National Defence Volunteer Force to share their armed forces manning experience.


US military delegation - leader MSgt Matt Giacobbe and accompanying Sgt Martina Crouse and Sgt Daniel Geyer - have experience of serving across various units and in various positions and currently specialize in recruitment.


"US troops have profound traditions and considerable experience in the area which they share now with our troops. Cooperation in this sector is important because we will be able to apply the best and the most efficient ways of enlisting candidates", said NDVF Sergeant Major SSgt Darius Masiulis.


Guests from the USA delivered training in Vilnius and Klaipėda for NDVF commanders and military as well as civilian personnel working in military recruitment.


"We hope that our meetings and lectures will be useful. We welcome the idea of future cooperation," said MSgt M. Giacoble.


"It is important not only to respond to a question clearly but also to have the courage to talk to and engage candidates in military service as well as assist people who are still in search of their possible career," shared his thoughts Sgt M. Crouse.


"It is really interesting to see how Lithuanian military communicate with civilian society", said Sgt D. Geyer.
During the visit US troops also observed a National Defence Day event in "Rytas" secondary school (Pabradė) organised by the personnel of the 8th Territorial Unit of the NDVF Didžioji Kova Military District, and paid a visit to children's home of Pabradė. US NCOs paid a visit to the General Jonas Žemaitis Lithuanian Military Academy where they took interest in the activity of the Officer Selectio Centre of the Academy. 


This weekend US military with Lithuanian volunteers will participate in the events of the Public and Military Day in Šiauliai and spend a lot of time talking to everyone interested in military profession and the armed forces.
