On November 17 member of diplomatic staff and acting Chargé d'Affaires of the Office of the Embassy of Canada in Vilnius Kevin Hamilton and a delegation paid a visit to the Šiauliai Air Base of the Lithuanian Air Force.
Military airfield was presented to the delegation by Commander of the Šiauliai Air Base Lt Col Virginijus Steponavičius, NATO Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) Air Policing-mission in the Baltic States was presented by the commander of the Danish Air Contingent currently in charge of the mission Maj Dennis Andersen. The guests toured the Air Base, viewed aircraft of the Lithuanian Air Force and F-16 fighters of the Danish Air Continent.
The Embassy of Canada was established for the three Baltic States in 1993 and is based in Riga. The Office of the Embassy of Canada in Vilnius has been operating in Vilnius since 15 January 1992.
