Representatives from Danish Royal Air Force Copenhagen Air Traffic Control Center visited Combined Control and Reporting Centre (CRC) Karmelava on Wednesday October 23rd. The Danish group was familiarized with the structure of the Lithuanian Air Force, Lithuanian airspace surveillance and control system's buildup, cooperation of the three Baltic States by establishing and developing BALTNET project.
LTC Fredi Karu, Commander of CRC Karmelava, introduced the role of Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian Radar Posts (RPs), Amari, Lielvarde and Karmelava National Control and Reporting Posts (CRP), Combined Control and Reporting Centre (CRC) Karmelava in NATO Integrated Air Defence System (NATINADS) and communications network between RPs, National CRPs and Combined CRC. He marked also the main responsibilities of Combined CRC Karmelava to provide Recognised Air Picture (RAP) and to control NATO air policing fighters over Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Combined CRC‘s Karmelava establishment, structure, Command and Control (C2) was presented as well. Guests were interested how are solving questions of cooperationwith civilian authorities related to airspace traffic control and rotation of the international contingent. LTC Fredi Karu focused that Combined CRC Karmelava, only one Combined CRC in NATINADS, is good example of successful cooperation between the three Baltic States carrying out the airspace surveillance and control.

During the meeting the guests had the opportunity to take a look at the national Lithuanian CRP and
Combined CRC, to communicate with staff.
