Representatives of the Baltic States and U.S. Land Forces signed a memorandum of cooperation

During a meeting in Vilnius representatives of the Baltic states and U.S. Land forces signed a memorandum of cooperation laying out intensified cooperation among the respective land forces through combined training and other regional security measures. The document also provides for the exchange of information to facilitate interoperability and deployability of allied forces.

The memorandum of cooperation was signed by the Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force Major General Almantas Leika, Deputy Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces Brigadier General Artur Tiganik, Director, Strategy, Plans and Policy, United States Army, Major General William Hix, and Commander of the Latvian Land Force Colonel Martiņš Liberts.

Other relevant issues were also addressed at the meeting, such as prospects of arranging intensified joint combat trainings, to cooperate more actively in national and multinational exercises organised by NATO nations, to further enhance conditions for involvement of rotational allied units into the Baltic states' combat training cycle.
