Representatives of the Lithuanian Armed Forces observed NATO-level exercise in Poland

Chief of Staff of the Lithuanian Land Force Col Vaidotas Malinionis, Chief of Staff of the Lithuanian National Defence Volunteer Force Lt Col Ramūnas Baronas and other representatives of the Lithuanian Armed Forces observed NATO-level exercise "Anaconda" held from September 24 to 27 in Poland where Polish troops and the allied forces trained to counter a fictitious enemy.

Lessons learned in the exercise will help conduct planning and arrange similar exercises in the territory of Lithuania in the future.

Apart from the Polish land, naval and air units the exercise was also attended by U.S. and Canadian detachments. The training event was observed and coordinated by the Polish-based NATO Multinational Corps Northeast Command manned by Danish, Polish and German military personnel.

During the visit in Poland the Lithuanian military delegation also met with Lt Gen Zbigniew Glowienka, Commander of the Polish Land Force, with whom cooperation between the Lithuanian and Polish Armed Forces was addressed. The delegation of the Lithuanian Armed Forces also visited the 11th Armoured Division Headquarters of the Polish Armed Forces and training areas of its subordinated units.
