On December 9 the second half of rotation nine of the Lithuanian-led Chaghcharan PRT returned to Lithuania after service in Afghanistan. Members of the contingent waited for the flight to Lithuania at Rammstein Airbase, Germany. In Lithuania they were met by Commander PRT-9 Lt. Col. Alvydas Šiuparis and the Head of Operations Board of the Joint Staff Lt. Col. Algirdas Norkus.
Rotation of PRT-9 took longer than usual: Lithuanian peacekeepers move between the mission region and Lithuania free of charge by the USA military aircrafts that conduct tasks of the US forces in the mission region on priority right (which is also granted for incoming rotations). In case of necessity tactical aircrafts of the Lithuanian Air Force C-27J „Spartan" would be used for redeployment.
