12-14 September, Commander of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade "Iron Wolf" Col Valdemaras Rupšys together with staff officers and officers from Romualdas Giedraitis Artillery Battalion participate in the exercise "Errant Knight" arranged by Danish Division in Aalborg town (Denmark). Estonian and Latvian staff officers also participate in the exercise.
The exercise "Travelling Knight" is conducted according the Danish Division's Combat Training Plan, which is an introduction to the new combat training cycle. During the exercise soldiers improve their readiness in offensive operations' planning in the composition of higher multinational unit. Exercise scenario is based on the peculiarities of the territory of the United Kingdom. During offensive operations the primary focus is to exchange units in the battle area, water obstacles, fire coordination, use of the reserve, security and preparatory operations.
This training with the Danish division is continuous. Offensive operations planning skills will be used by soldiers of "Iron Wolf" brigade in the site reconnaissance and assessment to be conducted in two weeks in the United Kingdom as well as staff exercise" Red Knight" conducted in Estonia in November and in the exercise " Yellow Knight" to be conducted next year.
Mechanised Infantry Brigade "Iron Wolf" was assigned to Danish division in 2006 by the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Chiefs of Defence of Lithuania and Denmark. The MOU covers mutual work of Lithuanian and Danish officers in international headquarters, joint training and exercise tailored to ensure interoperability and ability to act jointly in multinational operations.
