Twenty soldiers of the Engineer Battalion are second week in at an international Exercise Engineer Recee 2019 in Germany. Lithuanians are honing their engineer reconnaissance skills alongside NATO allies from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
The training site is in a U.S. airbase in the vicinity of Luxembourg. The training engineers are planning reconnaissance operations with colleagues from other countries, attending lessons on different bridge constructions and presentations of weaponry, equipment and gear, exchanging experience, and training to carry out reconnaissance of objects, routes, river crossings and bridges. During the active phase of the exercise the Lithuanians focused on railway and road bridges and road route reconnaissance. It was a novel but useful experience for Lithuanians to carry out the reconnaissance in a mountainous terrain.
According to the training Lithuanian soldiers, participation in multinational exercises , training military skills and enhancement of knowledge alongside NATO allies not only improves our soldiers' expertise and gives invaluable experience and new skills in conducting reconnaissance, but also strengthens Lithuania's defence and shapes a positive attitude of NATO allies towards Lithuania as an equal ally whose forces are able to act both, alone and together with fellow forces.
Soldiers of the Engineer Battalion will return to Lithuania by the end of the week.
Spare your sweat, Engineer, you are protecting your brothers lives!
