February 24, State Secretary for European Affairs of France Pierre Lellouche visited Šiauliai Airbase of the Lithuanian Air Force. At the Airbase the guest was received by Commander Lithuanian Air Force Brig. Gen. Artūras Leita and Head of the Airbase Lt. Col. Audronius Navickas.
At the Airbase P. Lellouche met with members of the French Air Contingent currently providing security for the Baltic skies.
Air Contingent of the French Armed Forces with four „Mirrage" 2000 have already been once deployed on the NATO Baltic Air-policing mission, this year the French rotated with German airmen in the beginning of 2010. Their first deployment on the mission took place in spring-summer of 2007.
