Tactical field Exercise Black Arrow 2014 of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade (MIB) Iron Wolf is gathering pace - the first phase training participating units to carry our various defensive tasks and certificating their readiness is partway through at the Gaižiūnų Training Range.
During the first phase the training audience of Black Arrow 2014, troops of the MIB Iron Wolf and other units of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, are performing procedures of mounting for a battle, drilling tactical movement, positioning in a concentration area, and honing actions in the event of CBR contamination alongside servicemembers of the company of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, U.S. Army in Europe (USAREUR), deployed by a NATO ally.
In parallel with that the staff of the Duke Vaidotas Mechanised Infantry Battalion is carrying out operational planning and getting ready for the following phase of the exercise.
Tactical field Exercise Black Arrow 2014 is conducted in three phases. During the first phase on May 12-15 the participating units are trained to complete different defensive tasks and certified. The following phase will focus on the integration of the combat team formed by the Duke Vaidotas Mechanised Infantry Battalion and units assigned to it in order to synchronise their joint action and achieve interoperability. The third portion will be the active phase where tactical tasks will be executed on May 17-22 on a nonstop basis according to a scenario generated by the Directing Staff.
