The 8th Lithuanian rotation deploys to Operation Interflex to train Ukrainian military personnel

January 6, a deployment to Operation Interflex ceremony was hosted at Vytautas the Great War Museum in Kaunas ahead of the 8th Lithuania’s contingent leaving for the United Kingdom to train military personnel of Ukraine. The rotation was formed by military training instructors of the Great Lithuanian Hetman Jonušas Radvila Training Regiment, Division General Stasys Raštikis Lithuanian Armed Forces School and the General Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre. Lithuania will continue the mission with multinational colleagues from Canada, the New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and other NATO Allies and partners.

“My advice to the contingent commander is to trust her instructors. And to you, troops, to trust your leader. Work as a team to be a team. And most importantly, I wish to you to come back safe,” said Chief of Staff of the Training and Doctrine Command Col Vytis Andreika.

Traditionally, Chief of Staff of the Lithuanian Great Hetman Jonušas Radvila Training Regiment Lt Col Deividas Jasinevičius presented the national flag of Lithuania to Commander of the Training Team Lithuania Lt Emilija Adomaitytė.

The Training Team will join forces with Allies to provide practical individual soldier, small unit command procedure and interoperability skills to Ukrainian partners. They will be taught weapon handling, firing, UAV operation, medical and engineer competencies, and train in a field training exercise in urban and woodland area.

Operation Interflex is a UK-led multinational military training mission in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It has been conducted since 2022instead of Operation Orbital conducted only by Ukraine and the UK from 2025 to 2022. Lithuania started contributing military instructors to Operation Interflex in the autumn of 2022.
