The Lithuanian Armed Forces invites to join the Road of Life and Death Tribute Run 

On January 10 (Saturday), military and civilian personnel of the Lithuanian Armed Forces will take part in the traditional international 34th tribute run On the Road of Life and Death. Over 2500 Lithuanian and Allied military personnel will pay tribute to the victims killed or lethally wounded on the night of January 13, 1991, in defence of the Vilnius Television Tower and the Radio and Television Committee Headquarters from the assault of Russian military detachments, just like every year since 1992. 

Lithuanian and Allied troops, police officers, fire fighters, border guards, prosecutors, riflemen, scouts, pupils and students, seniors, athletes and amateurs with or without their pets will run together in the honor of the Freedom Fighters. The event will conclude in Tribute Run prize presentation to the most abundant team turnout, as well as the most abundant team representing a school, a sports club, a team of Vilnius residents exclusively, a team representing a university, and an individual participant who will have run the distance  the most times. The Iron Will awards will be presented to four members of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. 

The 9-km Tribute Run course will take up streets from the Antakalnis Cemetery to the TV Tower: parts of Karių kapų, Kuosų, Jūratės, L. Sapiegos, Antakalnio streets, Žirmūnai Bridge, Šeimyniškių street, Konstitucijos avenue, T. Narbuto street, part of Laisvės avenue, L. Asanavičiūtės, A. P. Kavoliuko, Sausio 13-osios streets. Participants should park their busses in the parking grounds around Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO.

Programme of the Road of Life and Death Tribute Run:

1100 hrs  – Arrival, positioning of participants (grounds near Antakalnis Cemetery, Karių kapų street);

1140 hrs – Flower tributes ceremony at the Freedom Fighters tombs;

1155 hrs  – Address by Speaker of the SeImas Juozas Olekas;

1200 hrs – Start signal to begin the 34th On the Road of Life and Death Tribute Run;

Around 13.00 hrs – Finish signal to conclude the 34th On the Road of Life and Death Tribute Run;

1330 hrs – Flower tributes by the Memorial Wall of the Vilnius TV Tower (Sausio 13-osios street);

1330 hrs – Reservation time over, city streets opened for traffic.
