The new UH-60M Black Hawks of the Lithuanian Armed Forces surged for their first flight

Representatives of the Lithuanian Air Force completed test flight preparations and the first test flight with the UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters. The successful trial proofed all major aircraft systems, their functionality and efficient operation.   

The UH-60M Black Hawks mark a new stage in mobility and technological advancement of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.  The new assets will support different types of operations, search and rescue to combat. I am particularly grateful to the Pennsylvania National Guard for their assistance with helicopter testing, consultations and dedication of a simulation system for the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ needs,” said Chief of Defence General Raimundas Vaikšnoras.

Lithuanian Armed Forces pilots underwent an 8-week retraining programme in the US acquiring the qualification required for the UH-60M Black Hawks.  Their training will continue in Lithuania in the air in practice with American instructors and on the Black Hawk simulation system used by the Lithuanian Air Force Base since September of this year. 

“Our successful first flight test marks a new stage in the development of the Lithuanian Air Forces. This is more than a vehicle, this is new horizons to our pilots and maintenance personnel,” said Air Force representatives.

The first two of the UH-60M Black Hawks were delivered to the Air Force Base of Lithuania on October 18. Two more will be complement the aircraft pool of the Lithuanian Air Forces year next. 

The UH-60M Black Hawk is an advanced reliable and versatile high-end aircraft equipped with cutting-edge technology. It allows the pilots to focus on tactical tasks, situational awareness and support response to emerging threats more effectively. The equipment is suitable for missions above land territory or sea and in difficult weather conditions, thus significantly improving operational capability of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
