Troops from 7 NATO allies competed for the title of the best sniper

On September 2-3 sharp shooters and snipers representing 7 NATO member states demonstrated technical characteristics of their equipment and their firing accuracy skills at Sniper Day 2015 shooting competition at Juozas Lukša Training Centre of the Lithuanian Land Force.


The sixth time the event is held was exceptionally abundantly attended by foreign participants. Representatives from 7 NATO member countries - Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and the United States competed in the event.


Sniper from the Danish Armed Forces Private 1st Class Jesper Stottrup claimed first place and the prize cup in individual event of Sniper Day 2015, Major Mindaugas Spėčius from General Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre was the second place winner and Private 1st Class Frederik N. Petersen from the Kingdom of Denmark won third place.

First place in the team event was won by the snipers who also won in the individual event, Lithuanian team, i.e. Lieutenant Colonel Renatas Spėčius with the National Defence Volunteer Force and Major Irmantas Braziulis with the Training and Doctrine Command, took second place, and a team of snipers from Latvia claimed third place.


The already traditional competition cherishes traditions of sniper shooting, allows exchanging experience, comparing skills, communicating and promote sharp shooting and the qualification of sniper amongst Lithuanian military and law enforcement organisations and in other NATO countries.

According to the competition organisers participants were glad about the opportunity to contest, to get first-hand impressions of their peers skills, to communicate and exchange experience with peers from other NATO allies. While preparing for the events and during breaks between events participants showed their equipment to each other, exchanged experience, discussed technical features and application of their weaponry.
