Late in the evening of July 17 soldiers of Luxembourg arrived via Klaipėda to join the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battlegroup deployed in Lithuania since the beginning of this year. The Luxembourg Armed Forces soldiers will contribute to ensuring logistical support to the multinational military unit in Lithuania.
The soldiers brought logistical equipment via Klaipėda Seaport too: roughly 10 transportation trucks of different modifications.
Currently the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battlegroup in Lithuania includes military personnel from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Norway. The Battlegroup in Lithuania is mainly composed of German troops and is led by a German officer. In 2017-2018 the NATO eFP unit in Lithuania will be manned by Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Croatia and France.
