On March 6 Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States General Mark A. Milley paid a visit to Lithuania. His plane landed at Vilnius Airport in the afternoon, then the guest continued to visit the Joint Staff where he met Chief of Defence Lieutenant General Valdemaras Rupšys and attended a joint commanders’ meeting. Later Lithuanian and U.S. CHODs visited the United States Army heavy armour battalion 3-66 troops deployed at General Silvestras Žukauksas Training Area at Pabradė.
General underscored during the visit the steadfast commitments of his country to NATO allies and confirmed the latest U.S. plans to reinforce the eastern flank of NATO with additional capabilities.
Prior to the stop in Lithuania, General M. A. Milley visited Estonia and Latvia.
