October 19-21, United States Army Europe and Africa Command Sgt Maj Robert V. Abernethy and a USAREUR-AF HQ NCO delegation paid a visit to Lithuania.
The American guests met with Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt Gen Valdemaras Rupšys, Lithuanian Armed Forces Command Sergeant Major Remigijus Katinas, visited the Lithuanian Land Force Headquarters and met with Deputy Land Force Commander Col Arturas Jasinskas and Land Force Command Sergeant Major Darius Masiulis. CSM R. Abernethy later visited the U.S. 3rd Battalion, 66th Armored Regiment, viewed their service conditions and accommodation at the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area, and met with NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group military personnel training in Exercise Iron Wolf 2021-II.
During his visit, USAREUR-AF Sergeant Major also met with the top command of the Lithuanian Special Operations Forces and visited the Military Academy of Lithuania to meet and talk to cadets and share thoughts on leadership, and NCO-officer relations.
USAREUR-AF Sergeant Major is responsible for force readiness for tasks, discipline and professional improvement. It is a position that is in a direct contact with top leaders from across all the NATO Alliance and partners and ensures support to NATO allies and partners in the development of a modern and effective NCO corps.
