Volunteer soldier wins Olympic gold medal

Minister of National Defence Rasa Juknevičienė and Chief of Defence Lt Gen Arvydas Pocius extends their most sincere congratulations to Laura Asadauskaitė - Zadneprovskienė - member of the Lithuanian National Defence Volunteer Force and the Olympic winner of women's modern pentathlon in London!

 

L. Asadauskaitė - Zadneprovskienė has been a member of the National Defence Volunteer Force since 2003. She has many times represented the Lithuanian Armed Forces in military and non-military championships. She won the first place in the World Military Modern Pentathlon Championship in team events and the second place in individual events in 2006. In 2007 her results placed her in the third position in the individual events of the World Modern Pentathlon Championship, and in the second position in 2009. In 2011 she was third in the individual events as well as in the mixed really events in the World Modern Pentathlon Championship. In 2012 Laura Asadauskaitė- Zadneprovskienė took the first place in the European Championship.

 

Six members of the Lithuanian Armed Forces represent Lithuania in the London 2012 Summer Olympics: bronze medallist Aleksandras Kazakevičius, marathon runner Rasa Drazdauskaitė, judo wrestler Marius Paškevičius and three pentathlonists - Laura Asadauskaitė - Zadneprovskienė, Gintarė Venčkauskaitė, and Justinas Kinderis.
