On the 12th of February Lithuanian air force base soldiers, employees and Danish Royal Air Force troops, who are currently in charge of NATO QRA mission over three Baltic States, along with the mummers of Siauliai vocational education and training centre were celebrating Mardi Gras.
Reverberating chants, songs, people were dancing in the dance circles. As befits during Mardi Gras to grapple Kanapinis and Lašininis, while others have taken to pull the rope, so as to ascertain the winter or spring will prevail. No matter how fiercely resisted the winter representing rope pullers, but the spring representatives were the winners. The High Witch watered Mardi Gras festival participants with water and grain, which according to the old Lithuanian tradition brings success and health.
In addition to dancing and games, everyone had an opportunity to take a ride in a military caravan of sledges made from old car tires and pulled by military tracked vehicle.
After igniting Mardi Gras character „More", all the participants of the event were treated to myelin delicious pancakes with jam.
