The Lithuanian Armed Forces and Allied capabilities entered the mode of Full Operational Capability (FOC) as it conducts all designated tasks through the NATO Summit in Vilnius on July 11-12.
The Lithuanian Armed Forces ensure security on land, in territorial water bodies, airspace, and complete a range of less noticeable tasks. Over 3000 Lithuanian and 1000 Allied troops stay on duty 24/7 ensuring airspace defence, protection of critical sites, important routes and persons, searches in lodging sites and vehicles, search for explosives in sites, assessment of information environment.
Additional over 12,000 troops are on standby ready to respond if necessary.
The Lithuanian military have an additional authorization concerning the security of the NATO Summit in Vilnius, which is carrying the service arms, in stationary posts and on mobile assignments across different locations. Military personnel is authorized to ask individuals to meet their lawful requests, e.g., prohibition to access certain territory or site, or to shoot certain persons or sites, etc.
