From February 6 to 9 troops of the command staff, battalions and assigned units of the Motorised Infantry Brigade (MIB) Iron Wolf participate in a training event organised by the Danish Division in Haderslev (Denmark). During the training troops improve skills of operational planning in multinational environment and prepare for multinational command post exercise Red Knight to be held in Latvia this March.
Together with 30 Lithuanian military there are participants from the staff of the Danish Division and the staffs of the Estonian, Latvian and Danish brigades affiliated to the Danish Division.
"We acquire priceless experience through planning wide spectrum operations and sharing lessons learned and knowledge with international partners. Contemporary conflicts are not confined to combat actions, on the contrary, they demand a continuous evaluation of civilian environment and thorough planning to minimize risks during an actual military conflict," said the head of CIMIC Department of MIB Iron Wolf Command Capt Rimvydas Senkevičius.
The event based on the combat training plan of the Danish Division is aimed at paying the main attention to the training of specialists across all the functional fields in the staffs of the brigades affiliated to the Danish Division.
Theoretical and practical tasks help troops improve operational planning of defence operations in composition of a superior unit according to a scenario generated by the organizers of the exercise and drill military decision making procedures in accordance with NATO requirements.
Lithuanian MIB Iron Wolf was affiliated to the Danish Division in 2006 by a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Lithuanian and Danish Chiefs of Defence and in order to ensure the capacity of Lithuanian and Danish military units to collaborate in a range of multinational missions. It foresees collaboration of officers of both countries in multinational staffs, joint training and exercise.
Denmark is a partner nation within the headquarters of the UK-led Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC). Affiliation of MIB Iron Wolf to the Danish Division gave Lithuanian troops an opportunity to train at higher level than before - in division and corps-level exercise.
