March 24, M51 „Kuršis" and M52 „Sūduvis" of the Lithuanian Naval Force scouted Lithuania's territorial waters of the Baltic Sea near Butingė Oil Terminal searching for a reported stain of pollution. The operation was concluded at about 6 p.m., guesses about the possible pollution stain and its location did not confirm.

Ships of the Lithuanian Naval Force were called in to explore the possible pollution stain at sea and to find reasons of the possible spilt in response to reported oil-like pollution found in the sector of coast between Palanga and Šventoji. Information about possible pollution to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre of the Lithuanian Naval Force was sent in by Palanga Post of the State Border Guard Service.

Tasks of the Centre are conducting organisation, coordination, and control of search and rescue actions in the responsibility area of the Centre, and organisation, coordination, and conduct of elimination of noxious material spilt and other pollution incidents in the sea region.
